AMD Radeon HD 8000M ‘Solar System’ Series
The HD 8000M ‘Solar System’ series is being said to debut on CES 2013 where atleast one AIO desktop PC maker would showcase the new chip within the products. It is not known though whether only a certain PC maker would showcase the new chip or AMD themselves. Specifications of the new HD 8000M chips are not known but would offer support for DirectX 11.1, OpenGL 4.3 and OpenCL 1.2. The HD 8000M could be based on the GCN 2.0 architecture which is also arriving on desktop HD 8000 GPUs in Q2 2013 or they could be built on the older GCN architecture (HD 7000 series) with minor improvements. That is to be known yet so we have to wait till CES 2013 for further details.
We do know this much that out of the chips, Sun and Venus series would be the highest performing GPUs with Mars coming in the mid range performance offering. More to be known in the coming days.
